A floating intrusion barrier is typically used to separate functional uses of a lake or beachfront area. This may be separating swimmers from boaters or from fishermen. The normal wave barrier system will have the modules strung together end to end with high strength synthetic fiber rope.

For additional intrusion protection such as from boats, etc., wire rope may be used in lieu of the synthetic fiber rope.
