Rubber Tire Breakwaters
For many years property owners have used cast off tires to build breakwater systems. The tires have been bundled by various means and configurations to provide protective barriers or breakwaters for their waterfront properties.
In some cases where the water depth was not very deep, they were built up from the lake bottom surface. In other cases they may have been foam filled for flotation.
In either case, the tires tend to deteriorate with time and cause environmental problems from disintegration and the further leaching away of materials.
Many people who have the rubber tire system of breakwaters are faced with pressure from environmental agencies to get rid of the tires. These people need an environmentally acceptable system to replace what they have used for many years.
The Wavebraakker™ floating systems are environmentally neutral and make a good alternative when faced with the need to replace the rubber tire system.
